Our approach to publishing
Our first duty is and will always be to serve the interests of our customers who are school teachers who have a burning desire to teach their students about the sea.
With many years experience now, we listen to what teachers tell us about what students like doing in class - what works, what challenges their interests and what makes them want to learn about the sea.
Our second duty is to make sure our publications fit into the overall budget of the teachers in charge who have to run their subject departments on a tight budget. The prices of our books range from as low as $8 to no more than $66 in class sets.
Our third duty is to make sure our customers can use our products and conform to existing syllabi. Each year we support teacher networks, Education Authority initiatives in syllabus development or schools who request in-service for their teachers.
Our reason for these three duties is to make sure published items are viewed as a whole and not just as another book. We view curriculum development as a series of well organised projects that are linked over a considerable period of time to a well networked group of individuals, each who share a common goal. If these links are broken or the system that supports these goals fails, the desire of the teachers to educate their students about the sea will fail and the goal will not be reached.
This holistic approach to publishing ensures that our books will undergo constant review so that future editions and projects will provide useful products for our customers.
