Our Beliefs

Since I was very young my parents took our family to the seashore, and ever since I was able to convince them I was old enough to ride a surfboard ... this has been my sport! Love of the ocean motivated me to train as a marine biologist where I discovered the underwater world on a university trip to Heron Island. I still sit on my board or snorkel beneath the waves and marvel at the colour of the water - you appreciate that even more when you have visited places where you won't go in the water no matter how good the wave - the water smells, it's polluted.

My environmental conscience comes from the knowledge that what washes off the land and flows through the rivers, ends up in the sea. When I snorkel this fact becomes even more obvious.

At Wet Paper we share this care about our land and our water, and our involvement in networks and programs aim to make some difference ... to do our bit. It's about preserving our most precious resources -the sea.

Over eighty percent of us live within an hours drive of the sea and like all popular places, people pressures can be difficult to manage. Ours is an urban ocean, and it needs all the help it can get. To care about our environment requires personal commitment and development. It underpins our drive to educate.
